MTG Jeff: Ashiok VS Elspeth – Which Planeswalker & Deck is Better??

In the video above I play each deck twice, but in a way I tested each deck 4 times. Every time you play one deck you are matched up against the other. This means each game was a test of both decks. I was able to get a decent amount of information in those 8 games.

Does this mean that I have a FULL knowledge of which deck is best? No. But I was able to craft a solid opinion.

First, I realized that whatever deck found the most Mox’s early game typically won. This post is about which deck is better outside of that factor.

The Elspeth, Sun’s Nemesis deck is by far the best.

Here’s why.

The Ashiok, Nightmare Muse deck definitely will win games but has a MAJOR disadvantage in this particular matchup. It’s kind of a shame because this is the only match up it’s got. The main issue is it’s WEAK early game. It has a major lack of interactive plays that work for this particular matchup. This is partly because the Elspeth deck is just built with too many answers to the Ashiok deck.

Elspeth, Sun’s Nemesis deck is crazy explosive, but also crazy interactive. The amount of protection in this deck outmatches the good removal in the Ashiok deck. It is truly that simple.
