Cryptic Command continues to impress in Modern Merfolk. Cryptic Command acts as a counterspell and a pseudo Spreading Seas, clearing the way for victory. Also it’s important that Cryptic can bounce Ensnaring Bridge, Merfolk’s worst nightmare. The fact it can do everything is why it has replaced Master of Waves, a card that is becoming less and less playable as Whir Prison, Tron, Amulet Titan, and Titan-Shift become more popular.
